The Mind and Brain of Humans

€15.00

Preface I

Reading this script collection shall enable the es- teemed reader to discuss things on eye level with self-declared yet accredited neuroscientists. The tools, ideas and vocabulary delivered will help the reader to blend in during brain-related conversa- tions; and when intended, stun a fellow scientist about one’s scientific literacy.

In the core of this book are 3 scripts that explore fundamentals and key concepts of (1) the biology of the nervous system, (2) of cognition, and (3) of psychology with a neuroscientific scope. Script 0 however shall take the reader to a place where the study of the mind and the brain can be contem- plated from a fresh ‘from-scratch’ perspective. As catalyser, the purpose of this script is to speed up the understanding and processing of the infor- mation presented in the chapters to come.

Script 1 is dedicated to the biological aspects of the two organs brain and spinal cord. In Script 2, we will explore what the brain does, and, how it (re-)cognises the world around us.

Script 3 should be enjoyed with care. It invites to a journey about the wondrous aspects of the hu- man brain that emerge as the psyche. Everything that conscious animals experience is brought to life in the brain. The third script will therefore fo- cus on how human animals reflect on their nature and create what has been recognised since an- cient times as the human soul.
